Phencyclidine (PCP)

Doctors developed PCP in the 1950s as an anesthetic. However, they discontinued using it due to its adverse effects on patients. Now it is a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act. Schedule II substances have a high potential for abuse, and use may lead to psychological or physical dependence.
